MEALS: The organization will provide participants with post-race vegan sandwich. Each athlete will have a coupon that will hand in for the sandwich.

START: HALF-MARATHON 23K – At 9:00AM Sunday Morning.

Be aware the clock changes + 1 hour during the night!

WEATHER: Forecast is for a cold, cloudy weather with chances of rain/snow In the afternoon hours. LOW VISIBILITY. Trails will be packed with snow, wet snow, mud and some places might be frozen.

AID STATIONS: There are sufficient quantities of food at the aid stations! You must show self-restraint and only take what necessary so to leave enough for the rest of the field.

DROP-BAG: At station “Vrv Vodno” at the km 9 and the Finish (respectively). Drop-bags must be handed before the start on Sunday so please arrive at least 30 min earlier. The organization provides specific plastic bags, in which athletes must fit in all they wish to have in their drop bag. Other bags than that provided are not accepted! Use the drop bag to put COMPLETE SET of spare clothes for WINTER incl. socks, cap, gloves, pants, jacket and BOOTS. At the finish line (top of the mountain will be very cold and windy). But it will be warm and cozy in the mountain hut in which you can stay and wait for your friends to finish. From there you get down by cable car and then by bus, or someone can wait you with car at Sredno Vodno (where cable car ends) but ONLY after 16:00PM.

COURSE MARKINGS: The red-white marking tape is standard course marking. Keep in mind that the density of the markings is inversely proportional to the quality of the trail trace: light trail trace = dense markings, good trail trace = sparse markings! Special care was given for crossroads and other critical points in the trail so to make direction finding clear even for novices.

ATTENTION: The route that passes down from KOTA (KALE – right above Matka Canyon) and leads back to CP4 Sedlo in a distance of 500 meters is very technical and it will be covered in snow that will disguise all small rocks! It is challenging enough in normal conditions. BUT IT WILL BE VERY CHALLENGING in the expected weather. This small part of the route demands SERIOUS CONCENTRATION AND FULL ATTENTION!!! BE VERY VERY CAREFUL. DON’T RUSH!!! WATCH YOUR EVERY STEP! Be aware of ankle twists and falls. It is the furthest point of the route and it is reachable only by foot!

DRINKS: All Aid Stations are equipped with water. Most of them have electrolytes, cola and food (chips, biscuits, nuts, chocolate, dried and fresh fruits, cheese, salami).

7 HOURS: The HALF-MARATHON race cutoff of 7 hours will not be extended because of the snow! This is something that should be seriously taken into account and everyone doing his calculations. The cut-off times are strict even in normal conditions.

CASH: Have some cash (denars) with you (10-20 eur)! You can buy soda, tea, beer some croissants at the finish in the mountain hut. Also, if you need a taxi to get back to Skopje if you drop-out in case you are inpatient to wait for the bus.

AWARDS: Awards ceremony will be held at the mountain hut at the finish on Sunday at 16:00PM after the race final cutoff! But due to weather conditions it is possible to change that to an earlier hour.

FAIR PLAY: Be a sport! As required by sporting spirit of equal conditions for all, without leaving your fellow participants in a disadvantage by taking shortcuts or else. Those that abide by the rules and do not take shortcuts are not suckers but are governed by moral principles! Races are not a venue for unethical behavior and lack of dignity and respect for principles.

DROP OUTS: In the event you may choose to drop out you must let us know. Do not leave the course without us knowing. You may drop out wherever you feel the need or you may be forced to by accident, but the organization does not offer pick up services from any part of the course!  Whenever you decide to quit – we advise you – to return to Vrv Vodno (finish line) and then return to Skopje by Cable car (you get a voucher) and then by bus (No.25). If you drop out at any other point in the race you must get in touch with the Aid Station volunteers and arrange with them if it is possible to get a lift with them or walk together back to the Finish line or any point that is closest to a road. This of course is not a commitment neither by the organization nor the volunteers. It is just up to the goodwill of the volunteers to help out the participants that dropped out.

SPECTATORS-SUPPORT: Support crew can be wherever they can reach to! But because this is objectively difficult and for safety reasons it is better if they stay around the finish at Vrv Vodno (reachable only by foot or Cable car).

READING: Read carefully all relevant material for the race even now that we are few days from the start. It’s never too late!!! Late is when you will get in trouble and find then, that if you had read the material this might not have occurred.

MEALS: The organization will provide participants with post-race vegan sandwich. Each athlete will have a coupon that will hand in for the sandwich.

START: MARATHON 40K – At 8:00AM Sunday Morning.

Special care was given for crossroads and other critical points in the trail so to make direction finding clear even for novices.

ATTENTION: The route that passes down into Matka and climbs up back to mount Vodno is steep and perilous. It is challenging enough in normal conditions. BUT IT WILL BE EXTREMELY CHALLENGING in the expected weather. Trails will be snow packed, muddy, frozen and certain spots on the route are EXPOSED and demand SERIOUS CONCENTRATION AND FULL ATTENTION!!! We will have mountain rescue service men positioned at several critical spots in Matka Canyon that will guide the runners in safest passages but still BE VERY VERY CAREFUL. DON’T RUSH!!! One slip in wrong place brings dreadful consequences. In that manner, the climb from CP4 Matka up to Sv.Nedela is only one way up! If you start going up and you change your mind and decide to quit it is the best to continue up and make the full circle – climbing back down WILL NOT BE ALLOWED by organization personnel and rescue service men!

DRINKS: All Aid Stations are equipped with water. Most of them have electrolytes, cola and food (chips, biscuits, nuts, chocolate, dried and fresh fruits, cheese, salami).

10 HOURS: The MARATHON race cutoff of 10 hours will not be extended because of the snow! This is something that should be seriously taken into account and everyone doing his calculations. The cut-off times are strict even in normal conditions. Be aware that if you arrive at Aid Station CP4 Matka after 13:30 you will NOT be allowed to continue so don’t be a smartass – it takes 1h30min to make the circle from CP4 to CP5 Matka! Also if you come back at the same station CP5 Matka after 14:30 you definitely get DNF.

CASH: Have some cash (denars) with you (10-20 eur)! You can buy soda, tea, beer some croissants at the finish in the mountain hut. Also, if you need a taxi to get back to Skopje if you drop-out in case you are inpatient to wait for the bus.

AWARDS: Awards ceremony will be held at the mountain hut at the finish on Sunday at 18:00PM after the race final cutoff!

DROP OUTS: You may drop out wherever you feel the need or you may be forced to by accident, but the organization does not offer pick up services from any part of the course!  You can use public transport (red JSP-Skopje buses that are free of charge by having your BIB number) at Aid Station Matka (bus.no 60) and at Vrv Vodno by Cable car (you get voucher) and then by bus (No.25). If you drop out at any other point in the race you must get in touch with the Aid Station volunteers and arrange with them if it is possible to get a lift with them or walk together back to the Finish line or any point that is closest to a road.
